2 Club trophies on offer: the Beryl Welburn Memorial Trophy for the Most Meritorious ride by a female and the Tony Noble Memorial Trophy for Most Meritorious ride by a male.

Includes climbs of Buttertubs, Tan Hill and Leyburn Moor. With a pancake flat start and end across the Vale of York

HQ is the Village Hall in Shipton-by-Beningbrough. The hall may be found at the north end of the village on the left hand side of the A19. There should be adequate free parking in the council car park adjacent to the hall. The hall will be open from 7:30 a.m. Tea, coffee will be provided.

The Control at the far (and high) point of the ride is the Tan Hill Inn - the highest pub in England. Meals are served until 14:30. The Inn has a web site [tanhillinn.com].

The other two Controls are situated in cafes.

The Border House Tea Room is a popular stopping off point for club runs and is situated opposite the Kings Head Hotel on the main square in Masham.

The Posthorn in Leyburn is on the left hand side of the square and is open until 17:00.

Light refreshments (tea, soup and bread) will be served at the finish.

The route (see attachment at bottom of page) is based upon the classic Tan Hill devised by Harold Welburn. Sadly Harold died in 2006 but we will still be awarding the Beryl Welburn trophy for the most meritorious female rider - won last year by our own Dawn Clarkson, and previously by Helen Scull.

In 2007 we amended the route to minimise the amount of time we spend on the B6267 during the early part of the ride when we are most likely to be riding as a large group on the road to Masham. Also to follow minor roads as much as possible to Middleham and up the quieter side of Wensleydale. I enjoy riding the new sections and hope you do too.
